The Lexus ES is now in its eighth generation, and this generation brought something the nameplate had never offered before: battery-electric power. At Lexus of Bridgewater, we currently have 2026 ES 350e and ES 500e models in stock, and 2027 versions are arriving soon. Here is what the ES Electric offers, how the two versions differ, and why a 2026 model makes sense for shoppers ready to drive one now.
Same ES Electric for 2027, Available to Drive Today
Lexus has confirmed that the 2027 ES 350e and ES 500e carry over unchanged from 2026, the debut year for the all-electric ES. A 2026 model shares the same platform, battery, range ratings, styling, and technology as the 2027 version headed to dealerships. There is no design or feature gap to hold out for. Our new Lexus inventory shows the 2026 ES 350e and ES 500e models available now, and our sales team can share expected timing on incoming 2027 units.
ES 350e vs. ES 500e: Choosing Your Electric ES
Both versions use a 74.7-kWh lithium-ion battery mounted in the floor beneath the passenger compartment. The ES 350e runs a single 221-hp permanent magnet synchronous motor driving the front wheels, with an estimated 0-60 mph time of 7.4 seconds. The ES 500e keeps that front motor and adds a 118-hp rear motor for 338 net hp, DIRECT4 all-wheel drive, and an estimated 5.1-second 0-60 run.
DIRECT4 uses wheel speed, acceleration, and steering angle data to vary front-to-rear torque anywhere from 100:0 to 0:100. Off the line and in straight-line acceleration, it holds a split between 60:40 and 40:60 to limit body pitch.
- ES 350e: 221 hp, front-wheel drive, 307 miles of EPA-estimated range on 19-inch wheels, 292 miles on 21-inch wheels
- ES 500e: 338 hp, DIRECT4 all-wheel drive, 276 miles on 19-inch wheels, 272 miles on 21-inch wheels
Range, Charging, and the NACS Port
Every ES Electric has a North American Charging System (NACS) port behind a power-operated door on the passenger-side front fender, and Lexus includes a CCS-to-NACS adapter. Under ideal conditions, the 11-kW onboard charger completes a Level 2 charge in about 7 hours, while DC fast charging from 10 to 80 percent takes about 28 minutes at speeds up to 150 kW. A dual-voltage cable for Level 1 and Level 2 home charging comes standard.
Battery Preconditioning adjusts pack temperature to help optimize charging speed, and it can activate automatically when a public charger is set as a Cloud Navigation destination. The 2027 models also add Plug & Charge, which starts charging and payment at compatible networks once you plug in (both features require active connected services trials or subscriptions). For drivers commuting from Summit or Hillsborough, the ES 350e's 307-mile rating covers a full week of typical round trips for many households between charges.
A Larger, Quieter Cabin
Compared to the seventh-generation ES, the electric models gain 3.1 inches of wheelbase, 1.4 inches of rear legroom, and 1.6 inches of front shoulder room. Higher front and rear hip points make getting in and out easier, and laminated side glass helps keep road noise down. Premium trims use NuLuxe seating with micro-geometric dash trim, while Luxury trims move to semi-aniline leather and LED-backlit layered bamboo door panels.
Electronic door latches with Safe Exit Assist are standard, and Luxury trims add soft-close doors. On the ES 350e Luxury, the Executive Package turns the rear seat into a lounge with a power passenger-side seat and ottoman, heated and ventilated massaging outboard seats, and rear-seat climate controls.
Technology and Lexus Safety System+ 4.0
The latest Lexus Interface runs on a 14.0-inch touchscreen with a new widget-based home screen, paired with a 12.3-inch Multi-Information Display. Dual Bluetooth phone connectivity, an integrated Drive Recorder, and over-the-air software updates are included, along with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Luxury trims add a 17-speaker, 1,800-watt Mark Levinson PurePlay system.
Lexus Safety System+ 4.0 is standard and adds Risk Avoidance Emergency Steer Assist, Intersection Turn Assist, and Proactive Driving Assist to the brand's core safety suite. Traffic Jam Assist, which provides hands-free steering support in low-speed traffic on limited-access roads, is standard on Luxury trims and available on Premium.
